Jack Robinson began his photography career in 1955 after moving to New York City. While working as a freelance fashion photographer he caught the eye of the fashion editor of the New York Times, Carrie Donovan. His career continued to rise and after four years in New York City he photographed the cover of Life magazine. When Donovan began to work for Vogue, Robinson followed at her request. Thousands of his images appeared in Vogue until he left in 1973. He took portraits of some of music’s biggest legends, such as Elton John, Joni Mitchell and Crosby Stills Nash and Young. By the early 1970s, he had established himself as one of the leading fashion and portrait photographers in the world.
