Brandon Boyd has pursued a life of creative expression since he can remember. Raised in a highly creative household, he was strongly influenced by the arts at a young age. His first recollection of art impacting his life is of a piece painted by his mother while she was in art school. Very pregnant with his older brother she mockingly painted herself as the Virgin Mary. The painting hung at Brandon’s grandfather’s house and when he stayed there during visits he would often awake in the middle of the night to have it appear to be peering down saying “Go back to sleep, Brandon!”
While Brandon was never actually formally trained in the arts, he has been scribbling and sketching in note pads since he can remember, a practice ever present throughout his life. Having traveled the world extensively, his current sketchpad is a vast collection of musings that are cultural, geographical, political and emotional. A firm believer that all influences should be allowed to bear impact on the subconscious and conscious mind, living a life of honest and raw reflection is of paramount importance to Brandon.
Already an established musician, Brandon is proud to be an artistic ‘work in progress.’ He cites artists Aubrey Beardsley, Egon Shiele, Robert Anton Wilson and Helmut Newtown as a few of the people that have had a profound influence on his work. Brandon has a current collection of paintings, photographs, prints and two published books. He will be scheduling national and international art shows over the next year.
