Alan Aldridge

The 1970 Holland Pop Festival in Rotterdam was billed as the last big concert ever. As Aldridge's humorous riff on musical flower power attests, the lineup was sensational: Pink Floyd, The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, T Rex, Pentangle, Soft Machine, and several other name bands of the day. "The Dutch promoters said I could do anything with one exception. No tulips. So of course I did tulips, but transformed them into musicians playing rock instruments. They loved it."
